Neuroscience and the Mind-Body Connection: Directing Prana for Resilience

Episode #8

Yoga and exercise put our body in healthy, controlled stress modes. However, when we exist under chronic stress or do not have some sort of connection to how that stress impacts our body, maladaptive symptoms and patterns can manifest. Listen to this episode to gain a deeper understanding of the neuroscience and physiology of how your body separates high level reasoning and threat response.  I also describe how stress makes us regress back from high level reasoning to survival mode, and I use childhood development as an analogy. In spiritual and recovery communities, this concept often gets described as "living in fear vs living in love". I describe the neuroscience and reasoning behind this, as well as how astrology helps sort through some of this.

This episode is meant as a follow up/continuation of episode 6, which you can find here: https://the-science-of-light.simplecast.com/episodes/cultivating-resilience-through-trauma-informed-yoga

I brought up Maslow's Hierarchy of needs, and if you are unfamiliar with that concept, here is a great link to learn more: https://www.simplypsychology.org/maslow.html#gsc.tab=0
